The QFF team

CEO – Dan Galligan

Dan joined the team at Queensland Farmers’ Federation in January 2009. He was previously the Policy Manager for Cotton Australia in Queensland. He had been with Cotton Australia for nearly ten years. During this time, he worked in advocacy roles in Queensland and NSW, as well as holding grower services and management positions. Dan is well known for being the immediate-past Chairman of the Queensland Primary Industries Week Committee, as well as being central to the cotton industry’s negotiations on accrediting the industry voluntary Best Management Practices program, as delivering against the statutory land and water management planning framework in Queensland.

Sustainable Agriculture Policy OfficerAdam Knapp

Adam joined QFF in January 2008, and brings with him five years’ experience in project management of environmental initiatives and sustainability issues in the Australian seafood industry. He has travelled regularly throughout Queensland and interstate in training and mediation roles with primary producers. Prior to that Adam worked for the National Native Tribunal in Brisbane and Sydney which involved assisting in finding resolutions between indigenous groups, land holders and government stakeholders.

Communications and Policy OfficerBrad Pfeffer

Brad joined the QFF team in April 2010, and has eight years’ experience with media and rural industries in Queensland. He has been based in Brisbane and Rockhampton with a major rural newspaper, and has met with numerous farmers across the State in that time. He has also worked as a staffer in a regional Queensland political office and prior to joining QFF, Brad worked for QFF member organisation, Cotton Australia, in their Sydney office.

Rural and NRM Planning Policy Officer – Linda Lee

Linda joined the QFF team in May 2011 and is working on improved outcomes for agriculture in policy and planning processes. She has qualifications in environmental science and 15 years professional experience in policy development, strategic planning, natural resource management and community consultation. Linda has previously worked in consultancy, community organisation and public sector roles, most recently as a Director with the Department of Agriculture and Food, WA.

Water Policy OfficerIan Johnson

Ian has been working with QFF on water reform issues since October 1998. Ian has a consulting business that was formed in 1991 to address economic development projects and policy issues. Prior to becoming a consultant Ian held senior positions in central agencies of the Queensland Government. He has a degree in Economics and post graduate qualifications in urban and regional planning.

Jobs, Skills and Development Officer - Peter Perkins

Peter Perkins is an experienced agribusiness consultant and has worked previously for QFF on drought projects. He is an economist by training and has specialised in marketing and communications roles for much of his career. He spent his early years in the prairie provinces of Canada before working in Canberra and then Brisbane.

Vegetation Management Policy Officer - Kel Towerton

Kel Towerton is QFF’s vegetation management project officer. Kel has come to QFF after five years with Greening Australia where he was involved in the Vegetation Incentives Program; consulting services and as an extension officer to Transport and Main Roads on vegetation issues. Prior to this period, he worked for Logan City Council for five years as the Bushcare Officer after completing a diploma in a diverse suite of subjects in Protected Area Management.

Administration OfficerSusan Jackson
