Who we represent

QFF collectively represents primary producers in Queensland intensive agriculture sectors: sugarcane, cotton, horticulture, dairy, prawns, nursery, chicken meat, flowers, and pork. We also represent local irrigator groups and emerging industry groups such as organics and aquaculture. These industries produce more than half of the total value of primary production for Queensland in 2009-2010. According to Queensland’s Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, the State’s agricultural industries are typically valued at about $14 billion (including first round processing). Queensland agriculture, fisheries and forestry is responsible for the employment of about 84,900 people, or about 4% of the population. In addition, Queensland employment demand in the sector is expected to increase by 27,100 over the next five years. Despite the numerous challenges facing the sector, Queensland agriculture has a bright and positive future and will continue to perform as an important pillar of the State economy. Representing such an important and diverse sector of the economy, QFF is a vital voice for rural industry.
