Flood and Cyclone Assistance

State and Federal assistances have also been progressively activated for the Cyclone Yasi impacted regions. A special Category D NDRRA package with increased grants and concessional loans was announced 16th February for the high impact Yasi region and a Wage Assistance Scheme (WAS) 25th February. There have been many subsequent changes and extensions since then, the latest being 23rd April (WAS) extensions and 7th May (adding Mackay and Whitsunday RC areas to the Yasi declared area).

As of 8th March 2011, QFF has been implementing a special Cyclone Yasi Rural Recovery Initiative with 15 Industry Recovery Officers (IROs) in Far North Queensland.

The government has extended this program to January 31, 2012 and the current list of IROs can be contact through John Moroney on (07) 3837 4747.

The Category D higher grant and loan package was also extended on 2nd March to all announced Category C regions declared for floods.
