- QFF has provided comment on the Queensland Climate Transition Bill 2023. QFF understands the intent of the Bill however, there are significant impacts imposed by the unrealistic deadlines outlined and QFF cannot support the proposed Bill in its current form due to the impacts it would have on regional industries and communities. - Westpac has reversed its decision to close eight regional branches as a senate enquiry into regional banking closures continues. Read more here. QFF made this submission regarding regional bank closures to the Senate Standing Committees on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport in March.
- NSW Farmers are wanting to capture grower responses to questions about contracts, market imbalance and the perception of where the power lies in the poultry meat industry through their Grower Survey on Improving Poultry Meat Market Transparency. This survey is being conducted in response to the ACCC Perishable Agricultural Goods Inquiry.
- QFF’s corporate partner BDO have released their Federal Budget 2023 Report providing a breakdown of the key measures that will impact individuals and businesses in the year ahead, as well as expert commentary on key areas such as Food and Agribusiness. - Queensland primary producers growing horticultural crops can apply for a 35% rebate to assist with the cost of irrigation. The QRIDA Horticulture Irrigation Pricing Rebate Scheme provides a 35% rebate to offset the cost of water used to irrigate horticulture, including vegetables and mushrooms, fruit and tree nuts and nursery and floriculture.
