- Guava root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne enterolobii) has been detected in the Northern Territory and a property in North Queensland. Have you seen this nematode? Be on the lookout and report it. If you suspect the presence of guava root-knot nematode, you must report it to Biosecurity Queensland on 13 25 23 or contact the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881. - Animal plan 2022 to 2027 is Australia’s first national action plan for production animal health. The plan consolidates themes from over 30 existing strategies, action plans and frameworks – including both the Commonwealth Biosecurity 2030 roadmap and recently-released National Biosecurity Strategy. - The Global Entrepreneurship Network is now accepting proposals for sessions and speakers for the 2023 Global Entrepreneurship Congress taking place in Melbourne, May 1-4, 2023. - The Queensland Government has announced the release of guidelines and opening of applications to the new $10 million Queensland Microgrid Pilot Fund. The two-year program offers grants for communities on the edge of the electricity grid to deliver shovel-ready microgrid projects or provide support to develop future projects through feasibility studies. - The 2023 National Agricultural Educators Conference is underway in Toowoomba, presented by the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) and Queensland Agricultural Teachers Association (QATA), running from 8-12 January. The theme for the 2023 conference is Creators & Innovators with a series of workshops and industry tours that showcase agriculture. QFF are proud to be supporting this important conference. - The Queensland Competition Authority has commenced its review to set regulated retail electricity prices (notified prices) to apply in regional Queensland 2023-24. An interim consultation paper has been published which provides information on key issues relevant to setting notified prices.
