Ross grew up on a cotton farm based in Emerald, Queensland. Following study and travel he returned to the area to begin his own farming business. After growing cotton on his 420ha farm for ten years, in 2014 he expanded his business by adding 220ha and diversified his cropping with chickpeas and sorghum.
Ross is a proactive advocate for Emerald agribusiness as a member of local and national industry organisations, including as a grower representative for Cotton Australia, Director on the Local Management Arrangements Board for Emerald, Chair of the Cotton Research and Development Corporation Industry Research Panel, member of AgForce Queensland and the former President of the Central Highlands Cotton Growers and Irrigators Association.
Ross was appointed a Director in 2017.
