QFF’s John Hay and FluxPower’s Manfred Neustifter discussed the real-time energy meters that we have installed on farms and how the dashboard has been updated to show the real-time carbon emissions in the farms’ grid energy consumption.
The farms participating in the Energy Saver’s real-time metering program now have access to real-time carbon information on their Fluxpower dashboard. The dashboard shows the embodied greenhouse gas emissions in power that is purchased from the electricity grid.
Behind the scenes, the app reviews the amount of power from different generators suppling power in the Queensland electricity network and calculates the emissions from each of the sources, attributing this to each kWh in real-time.
Currently, the carbon embodied in grid electricity is calculated using the Greenhouse Gas Factors and Methods workbook, with Queensland’s current emissions factor being 0.8 tonnes of carbon-dioxide equivalent (tCO2-e) per MWh of electricity purchased.
The webinar shows some screen shots from the real-time monitoring and gives some insights into the observed data from the meters.
The real time meters have been installed as part of the Energy Savers program which has been delivered by QFF and it’s members with funding and support from the Department of Energy and Public Works.
