The Energy Savers Plus Extension Program is part of the Queensland Government’s $2 billion affordable energy plan and aims to assist agricultural businesses identify and realise energy savings and productivity improvements.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does a Type 2 Energy Audit involve?

    A Type 2 Energy Audit is the standard model for a site wide energy audit. It involves a comprehensive review and analysis of the potential energy saving opportunities and guidance as to where investment should be undertaken.

  • Applications have closed, will there be positions available if participants drop out?

    The Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) invited applications for the program during the first half of 2018 and the program is currently fully subscribed. If you would like to be on a reserve list in case a farm has to withdraw for some reason, please email DNRME on and say you’d like to be on the ESPPE list.

  • When will my audit happen?

    The project timeline has 100% of the audits completed by the end of March 2020. Your Industry Case Officer will work with you over the coming months to establish a time that suits both an auditor and your business.

  • Do I need to contact an auditor?

    The project team has a list of auditors that are known to us and are familiar with the agricultural sector. Your Industry Case Officer will work with you to select the most suitable one.

  • What if I have an auditor I want to use?

    As mentioned above, the project team has a list of auditors they have worked with before and know to be familiar with the energy requirements for agricultural businesses. If however, you have an energy efficiency specialist you have worked with previously who is familiar with your business and qualified to complete the audit, please contact your Case Officer and to discuss whether they might be a suitable option.

  • Where do I find out more about Energy Efficiency?

    The Energy Savers program has completed around 130 audits on farms throughout Queensland already – and we have developed 55 case studies and 5 video case studies.  These and a lot of other energy efficiency and renewable energy information can be found here: HERE.
