- Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers have partnered with the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce to deliver the Diverse Queensland Workforce – Agriculture program. This program aims to help eligible migrants and refugees gain employment in the agriculture sector. Learn more here.
- Personal hardship financial assistance is now available for communities impacted by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Learn more here.Primary producers who have sustained any damage, no matter how severe, to property or crops are encouraged to complete the Queensland DAF Agriculture Disaster Impact Survey. The survey assists the Queensland Government and industry to quickly assess the damage across the region and respond accordingly.
- The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Agriculture has completed and tabled their report on food security, Australian Food Story: Feeding the Nation and Beyond. QFF members, eastAUSmilk will immediately commence discussion with the Government regarding implementing recommendation #4 which suggests the Government develop a strategy to reinvigorate the Australian dairy industry. - The Queensland Competition Authority are reviewing the irrigation pricing practices of Sunwater and Seqwater. The review will recommend irrigation prices to apply for the four-year period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2029. Learn more and make a submission here by Thursday, 29 February.
- The Zero Net Emissions from Agriculture Cooperative Research Centre (ZNE-Ag CRC) is a new CRC featuring 73 industry, education, and government partners to support Australian agriculture in the transition to zero net emissions. Learn more here.
- Rural Aid are hosting “Thank A Farmer” messages on their website, allowing the public to leave a word of thanks to primary producers this Christmas. You can read them here and leave your own messages of support for our world leading food, fibre and foliage producers.
- The National Farmers’ Federation have released their interim report exploring the potential for a Code of Conduct to increase market transparency and competition in Australian poultry meat supply chains. Read it here. The final report is set to be published in April 2024.
