10 Things to Know - 25 May 2026

  1. Queensland’s 2026 sugarcane crush will officially get underway this week, with harvesters rumbling into life across the state’s far north. CANEGROWERS continues to raise concerns around fuel and fertiliser supply ahead of the crush. Read more here.

QFF has joined the North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils, Local Government Association of Queensland, and AgForce in calling on the Federal Government to provide restocking support to primary producers across the North West that have been devastated by consecutive disaster seasons. Read more here. 
  3. Five cotton growers from across New South Wales and Queensland have been named finalists for the 2026 Bayer Cotton Grower of the Year and the AgriRisk High Achiever of the Year awards, to be announced at the Australian Cotton Conference on the Gold Coast in August. Read more here.
