- A new industry-led training program is supporting Queensland farmers to access high-quality, modern and flexible training across the state. The new program, SmartAg Queensland, provides accredited, non-accredited and micro-credentialed training to the cotton, cane, horticulture, and grain industries, with a focus on delivering training in rural and regional locations. - Canegrowers were in Canberra last week for the National Farmers’ Federation’s Leaders’ Summit, along with QFF, Cotton Australia and other agricultural representatives, sharing knowledge and ideas to advance the best outcomes for Queensland’s farmers and sugarcane growers. Read more here.
- Cotton Australia has issued a statement rejecting claims presented in the ABC’s Four Corners feature on cotton in the Northern Territory which portrayed a one-sided view of the industry with a disregard for legitimate scientific research. Read more here.
- The National Farmers’ Federation’s (NFF) National Farmer Priorities Survey has recorded several troubling sentiments including a decreasing sense of confidence in the future of family run farms, despite a growing number of farmers reporting they love the work they do and the communities in which they operate.
