- Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) CEO Scott Kompo-Harms has called for imported food competing with the produce grown by Australian farmers to meet equivalent standards for food safety, traceability, biosecurity and ethical labour practices, following the ABC’s Four Corners investigation into food fraud. - The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has urged farmers to urgently review their biosecurity plans, as the H5N1 strain of avian influenza spreads. Last week testing confirmed the influenza strain has spread between wild birds on Australian soil for the first time since the disease’s detection in June. Read more here.
