  1. What food item or agricultural product can’t you live without?   2. In 2025, QFVG will build on the success and momentum of their Geared-Up Growers training sessions by providing learning and development opportunities under Geared Up Horticulture. Learn more and register your interest in the training here.
  3. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli announced his new Cabinet on Friday. QFF alongside our peak body members are looking forward to working with the Premier and all Ministers to address our key policy actions across our priority areas including water, energy, environment, biosecurity, disaster management, land use planning, farm viability and transport and infrastructure.
  4. The Federal Government has released its response to the Red Imported Fire Ant Senate Inquiry Report. The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) has warned that the Inquiry Report will come back to bite, highlighting the report underestimated the risk of fire ants to the country. Read more here.

  6. Cotton Australia has been recognised by the NFF for its leadership on important programs like AgCAREERSTART, Farmsafe, and its R&D guidance with the Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) in a key meeting of agricultural leaders in Canberra. Read more here.
  7. Last week the Australian Government released the vocational education and training (VET) Workforce Blueprint presenting a roadmap of action to address challenges within the agricultural sector. Read more here.
  8. An innovative new device that significantly reduces risks for newborn piglets is an example of how technology is driving best practice animal health across the agricultural sector. Read more here.
  9. The 3G network has officially been turned off. Learn more about tools to help people transition here. As of 28 October, Telstra is legally required to prevent mobile phones that cannot call emergency services (including Triple Zero) from accessing their network. This includes older 3G handsets, as well as some 4G/5G handsets. Learn more here
  10. QFF are hosting upcoming webinars on energy efficiency, including case studies from dairy and horticulture farms on Tuesday, 5 November and a case study on voltage, power factor and variable speed drives on Wednesday, 13 November.
