For some time now the Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) has been talking up the bright future of our sector and advocating for stable regulatory and public policy settings that encourage the innovation and productivity needed to realise this future. In line with this, the QFF is a proud sponsor of the Queensland Government’s ‘AgFutures’ Conference being held 22-23 November 2016 in Brisbane. QFF commends the government for convening the conference that will bring together agriculture’s innovators and visionaries.
AgFutures 2016 will showcase two critically-important areas driving industry development and expansion – agri-tech opportunities and global investment within the sector. The 2-day conference is a great opportunity for industry representatives, producers, researchers, policy makers and agribusiness representatives to network and participate in thought-provoking discussion.
QFF has sponsored AgFutures as it embodies the direction and positivity our organisation and industry members continue to be involved with. To meet the predicted growth in Queensland’s agriculture sector it will require forward thinking an innovative solutions. Events like these are essential in facilitating opportunities for these ideas to be shared and developed.
QFF continues to invest time and resources into programs that look towards innovation to improve business outcomes for our diverse industry members. One particular example is the QFF & Ergon Energy Savers Program which targets individual growers/farmers through audits and provides advice on practical energy efficiencies and renewable energy options. The program has had considerable success in highlighting the benefits of new technologies through detailed audits and measuring the outcomes where farmers have embraced these new technologies for their businesses.
QFF encourages industry to take this opportunity the Queensland Government has helped facilitate and join in on the discussion on the future of investment and technology in agriculture.
