The Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) has announced that it will be an official Silver sponsor of the Queensland Government’s AgFutures 2016 Conference being held 22-23 November at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
QFF President Stuart Armitage commended the government for convening the conference that will bring together agriculture’s industry leaders, innovators and visionaries.
“For some time now the QFF has been talking up the bright future of our sector and advocating for stable regulatory and public policy settings that encourage the innovation and productivity needed to realise this future,” said Mr. Armitage.
“AgFutures 2016 will showcase two critically-important areas driving industry development and expansion – agri-tech opportunities and global investment within the sector.”
The future of agriculture and the opportunities associated with feeding a global population of nine billion by 2050 relies on the adoption of new technologies, business systems, industry-wide investment and innovation.
The 2-day conference provides an opportunity for industry representatives, producers, researchers, policy makers and agribusiness representatives to network and participate in thought-provoking discussion.
The conference will also include the presentation of two awards at AgFutures Dinner, the Minister’s Emerging Leaders Award and the Peter Kenny Medal.
The awards recognise individuals who have made a significant and influential contribution to Queensland’s agriculture, fisheries and/or forestry sectors. Award criteria and nominations details can be found on the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries website.
“To meet the predicted growth in Queensland’s agriculture sector it will require forward thinking and innovative solutions,” said Mr. Armitage.
“QFF has sponsored AgFutures as it embodies the direction and positivity our organisation and industry members continue to be involved with.”
“Events like AgFutures are essential in facilitating opportunities for these ideas to be shared and developed.”
“QFF encourages anyone involved in agriculture to come along to the conference and join the discussions on the future of investment and technology in our sector.”
