- Ahead of the State Election in October, QFF has joined leading Queensland organisations in calling on political parties to fix the Bruce Highway, which has a fatal and serious injury crash rate three to five times higher than comparable highways in New South Wales and Victoria. - A new report has outlined the negative economic impact to regional economies if the Australian Government removes the Working Holiday Maker visa program’s 88 days of regional work requirement. Read it here.
- The Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) are hosting several in-person Negotiation Tactics Masterclasses in late August through mid-September, to support growers to build their business skills. Find a full list of the remaining dates and locations here.
- The Remote Area Planning & Development Board (RAPAD) are hosting the Energy & Economic Futures Forum in Barcaldine on Friday, 27 September. - Applications are now open for the latest round of funding for the Queensland Feral Pest Initiative (QFPI), dedicated to effectively managing feral pigs through innovative and diverse approaches. Learn more and apply here by 13 September 2024.
- Cotton Australia hosted the Australian Cotton Conference last week with record numbers of close to 3,000 delegates. A $13 million landmark partnership has also been announced to help safeguard Australian cotton growers against the rising threat of disease. Read more here.
- The Supervisors Short Course is nationally accredited training designed to give agricultural supervisors knowledge and skills needed to support workplace development and optimal performance of their staff and/or trainees. The courses are based out of Caboolture, Dalby and St George at no cost to QFF and UQ Skills funded students. Learn more about the course and apply here.
- The second round of the Australian Government’s On Farm Connectivity Program launched last week, with funding boosted to $18 million. The program provides rebates of up to 50 per cent for eligible ag-tech and connectivity equipment – worth up to $30,000. Read more here.
- Purpose-built drones and DNA analysis tools are being utilized to combat yellow crazy ant outbreaks in Queensland. Read more here.
