  1. In 2026, CANEGROWERS, Queensland’s peak agricultural body for the sugar cane industry, are marking 100 years of representing cane-farming families. For more information on the Centenary year and CANEGROWERS history visit 100 years of CANEGROWERS.

  2. Producers impacted by monsoon trough and flooding from 24 December 2025 can now access QRIDA flood recovery assistance. Grants are available for clean-up and reinstatement, alongside concessional and working capital loans to support recovery. Assistance applies across several activated North Queensland LGAs.   3. Dates have been announced for the 2026 Australian Cotton Conference, to be held 4–6 August 2026 at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Registrations open 1 March 2026. A limited-run official conference work shirt, made from 100% Australian cotton by TradeMutt is also available to order here by 31 January.

  4. QFF has delivered its AgTech Advisor Workshop series across Mackay, Emerald, Ayr and Cairns, helping advisors and producers build practical skills in connectivity, drones, satellite tools and ESG. Strong attendance showed the growing demand for digital capability. Read more here.

  5. QFF is recruiting two Industry Recovery and Resilience Officers to support producers impacted by natural disasters, with roles based in Toowoomba and the Sunshine Coast/Burnett. Applications close 16 January 2026. Read more and apply here.

  6. Through the Farm Business Resilience Program, QFF has delivered a two-part webinar series featuring CarbonLink which discusses how farmers can turn carbon into a farm asset. The webinars are now available to watch on demand here.

  7. The Australian Government has released a draft Integrated Farm and Land Management (IFLM) method under the ACCU Scheme for public consultation. The proposed method aims to support whole-of-farm approaches to carbon abatement across land and agricultural systems. Read more here.

  9. The Queensland Government’s ‘Unpacking the Rural plant Code of Practice’ video series helps farmers and agricultural businesses understand and apply the Rural plant Code of Practice 2024. Topics include technology, training, vehicle safety, and in-field traffic management. Watch the videos here.

Recent EPBC Act reforms have created significant uncertainty for the Queensland agricultural sector, leaving farmers unclear about what is required under the new legislation and draft standards that are yet to be finalised. AgForce unpacks what is understood so far here, and QFF and Cotton Australia have written to the Hon Murray Watt, Minister for the Environment and Water, calling for an interim deferral to existing state legislation until greater clarity on the EPBC reforms is available.
