  2. Marking National Agriculture Day on Friday, 15 November, Queensland’s Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett has set a target to boost farm gate output to $30 billion by 2030 along with a focus on biosecurity and innovation. Learn more here.

  4. CANEGROWERS Queensland and fellow grower collectives have united to urge all growers who hold shares in Sugar Terminals Limited (STL) to make their vote count at the upcoming AGM on 20 November. Read more here.

  6. The National Farmers’ Federation has welcomed the inaugural National Agricultural Traceability Strategy 2023 to 2033.The strategy underscores the farm sector’s ambitious goal to be a $100 billion industry by 2030. Read more here.
  7. Bundaberg Fruit & Vegetable Growers is calling on agribusinesses to complete a survey aimed at gathering wage data from targeted Queensland regions to identify key trends in the agricultural sector. Learn more here.

Australia’s National Food Waste Strategy has set a goal to halve the country’s food waste by 2030.  Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) have published an article discussing the intersecting issues of food production, distribution and economic pressures that are at the heart of the food waste issue.   9. The Australian Government has recently commenced the second review of the Dairy Code of Conduct. To assist with this review, the department is establishing a Consultation Group comprised of processor and farmer representatives to provide advice to government. Read more here.
  10. Farmers are advised to be aware of agricultural machinery equipment sale scams that have recently fleeced Australian farmers out of tens of thousands of dollars. Read more here.
