- QFF, alongside its peak industry body members Cotton Australia, Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers (QFVG) and Canegrowers, have welcomed last week’s announcement by Minister for Primary Industries the Hon Tony Perrett MP regarding changes to the definition of a ‘primary producer’ in Queensland. - The Rotary FNQ Field Days – northern Australia’s largest field days event – welcomed record numbers last week in Mareeba. The award-winning field days is also the largest community event on the Tablelands and has been hosted since the 1980s as a celebration of north Queensland’s dynamic agriculture sector. - The European Union has listed Australian beef as low risk for deforestation, resulting in a simplified due diligence process for beef exported to the EU. Read more here.
- Greenlife Industry Queensland’s (GIQ) Green Expo brings together the best of the nursery and garden industry, with a wide range of displays and products all in one place. This year’s event is taking place on 29-30 July at the Gold Coast. Learn more and register here.
- Woolworths and the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) have partnered to launch the AgriEmpower Scholarship. Through the program, Woolworths and NFF are looking for diverse thinkers who don’t fit a single mould, but share a drive to enhance Australian agriculture. 20 scholarships of $20,000 each are available with individuals aged 25-40 across the agricultural supply chain eligible. - Hort Connections, Australia and New Zealand’s premiere horticulture conference and trade show, will be hosted in Brisbane this week bringing together industry leaders, growers, and innovators for three days of networking, learning, and celebrating the future of horticulture.
