  2. CANEGROWERS has welcomed positive progress on key issues including reef regulations, disaster funding and insurance—but says momentum must continue to deliver meaningful outcomes for cane farmers. Read more here.

  3. Cotton Australia has met with Queensland Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett to discuss key priorities for the cotton industry, including water policy, infrastructure, regional development and research investment. Read more here.

  4. Greenlife Industry Qld is championing better outcomes for nurseries, calling for practical reform on fire ant management, pot levies, disaster support, insurance, apprenticeships and more. Read more here.

  5. Farmers in Coalstoun Lakes are trialing sugarcane for the first time, supported by planting incentives from Isis Central Sugar Mill. The inland trial is showing strong early results and could open new opportunities for the industry. Read more here.

  6. Energy and agriculture came together in Dalby for the 2025 Surat Basin Coexistence Symposium, hosted by TSBE and Western Downs Regional Council. The event facilitated a discussion on how multiple sectors can successfully coexist, with a view to managing the risks and leveraging the opportunities. Read more here.

  7. Queenslanders, including farmers and other landholders, are invited to share their thoughts on private protected areas through the A Fresh Start for Private Protected Areas– Discussion Paper. QFF encourages farmers and agricultural representatives to have their say and put forward ideas as to how private protected areas might work in a way that successfully compliments farming enterprises.

  8. Public consultation on the Reef Protection Regulations regulated standards for beef cattle grazing, bananas and sugarcane closes 8 August. Producers in reef catchments are encouraged to share feedback via survey, workshop or submission. Read more and make your submission here.  

  9. Applications are now open for Queensland’s new $180.6 million Sovereign Industry Development Fund, supporting investment-ready projects in defence, biomedical and biofuels. The fund aims to grow sovereign capability and secure regional jobs. Read more here.

  10. Have your say on Queensland’s Wild Dog Management Strategy. Feedback will help inform the 2025 evaluation of the 2021–26 strategy. Survey closes 5pm, Friday 15 August. Read more here.
