  1. Last Friday QFF was joined by LGAQ and the Queensland Conservation Council in a delegation to the Queensland Premier presenting over 1500 signatures joining peak bodies calling on the Premier to veto carbon capture and storage in the Great Artesian Basin.   2. Australian dairy products from southern Queensland and northern New South Wales are on route to Japan from Brisbane, marking Norco’s first international shipment since their Lismore factory flooded in 2022. Read more here.
  3. The Australian cotton industry will gather on the Gold Coast from 6-8 August 2024 to network, learn and unite around the 2024 Australian Cotton Conference theme of “Cultivating Excellence.” Register to attend or exhibit here.
  4. BDO Australia have written an article covering what the Australian agriculture industry needs to know about the Australian Government’s Research and Development (R&D) Tax Incentive. Read it here.

  6. After a decade of research, Australian scientists from have been able to fully map the sugarcane genome for the first time, which is three times the size of the human genome and more complex. Read more here.

  8. The National Farmers’ Federation released its final report towards creating greater market transparency and competition in the poultry meat sector last week, following concerns raised by growers and the competition watchdog. Read more here.
  9. The National Renewables in Agriculture Conference and Expo is taking place in Toowoomba on Thursday 4 July 2024, featuring guest speakers from AgriFutures, QFF, and other industry and government bodies from the energy and agriculture sectors. Learn more and register here.
  10. Have your say: The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is reviewing Australia’s import policy for veterinary immunobiologicals (including vaccines). Read the issues paper here. Submissions for feedback close Thursday 6 June.
