10 Things to Know from QFF – 31 August 2020

  1. Ahead of the 2020 Queensland state election on 31 October, QFF has released a list of policy and regulatory amendments and opportunities as well as industry-led programs required for the next government to capitalise on the agriculture sector’s potential.   2. What we don’t often hear is a clear, well-articulated vision for the sector. Agriculture has enormous potential to build upon its already impressive record in Queensland, and it is primed for a government willing to seize the opportunities. Read QFF’s Queensland Country Life column HERE.
  3. Jesse Bowman grew up on the north coast of northern New South Wales. Surrounded by both natural rainforest and agriculture, he developed a passion for environmental management and sustainability before joining QFF’s Agricultural Extension Work Placement Program.   5. A class exemption has been approved for Queensland and New South Wales resident farmers and agribusiness workers to perform essential agribusiness services for the agricultural supply chain, conduct farming activities, provide timely veterinary services and care for livestock.   6. A new online dashboard has been developed by the Queensland Government to provide the latest information about local government plan-making taking place under the Queensland Planning Act. Check out the dashboard HERE.
  7. Legislation has been introduced by the Federal Government to reduce the risk of fatality and injury associated with quad bike use by improving information for consumers and the design of quad bikes. Requirements for all quad bikes will apply from 11 October 2020 and additional requirements for general use quad bikes from 11 October 2021. Details HERE.
