More than 300 guests gathered at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane for QFF’s annual National Agriculture Day Breakfast. The strong attendance from producers, industry leaders, and government representatives demonstrated the deep respect Queenslanders hold for agriculture and the role it plays in our state’s prosperity.
Queensland Premier Hon David Crisafulli MP delivered the keynote address, marking his first year in office. He addressed agriculture’s essential contribution to regional development and Queensland’s food, fibre and foliage security.
The Premier also outlined opportunities emerging across the sector; from the growth of biofuels and new crop varieties to the significant years ahead as Queensland prepares for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The event was sponsored by Goanna Ag, who spoke about the important work they have delivered alongside QFF supported by the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers through the Water Use Efficiency Trial project in the Lockyer Valley, and the importance of water and energy security to Queensland agriculture.
QFF’s peak body members — Cotton Australia, CANEGROWERS, Queensland Fruit & Vegetable Growers, Greenlife Industry Queensland and eastAUSmilk — were well represented, alongside their producer members from across Queensland. QFF’s corporate partners Mitsubishi Motors Australia, Mobil, CarbonLink, RELA, Telstra, Sparke Helmore Lawyers and the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise also attended, reflecting the broad networks that support Queensland agriculture.
The event attracted strong ministerial engagement, with Queensland Minister for Primary Industries Hon Tony Perrett MP, joined by Queensland’s Assistant Minister for Primary Industries Sean Dillon MP and Assistant Minister for Regional Development Bryson Head MP, Federal Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Senator Anthony Chisholm, Senator Susan McDonald and Speaker of the House Pat Weir MP.
National Ag Day is more than a celebration of our nation’s world class food, fibre and foliage; it’s a reminder of the innovation, ambition and contribution of Queensland’s rural communities. QFF remains committed to advancing agriculture in Queensland alongside our members.
