  2. The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC)’s 2018 National Retail Energy Competition Review identified consumer confidence in energy retailers has dropped to new lows. The ongoing ‘energy crisis’ continues to have real world implications for regional Queensland. QFF QCL column HERE.

  6. QFF industry member Flowers Australia is warning florists against using noxious weeds in bridal bouquets as they are not just a nightmare for landholders, livestock, and native ecosystems, some can also be toxic to humans and animals. More HERE.
  7. The Asia-Pacific Poultry meat and egg industries came together for the recent Poultry Information Exchange (PIX). It was an opportunity for growers and associated agribusinesses to network and showcase the latest technology and research. Read the PIX wrap up HERE.
  8. Help is on its way for drought affected farmers, the Australian Government have extended the Farm Household Allowance (FHA) from three years to four, while the Queensland Government has funded an additional two temporary positions under the Rural Financial Counselling Service.
  9. From 1 July, 2018 Single Touch Payroll (STP) begins, requiring employers with 20 or more employees to report tax and super information to the ATO from their payroll software each time they pay their employees. Check out the ATO’s handy Factsheet and Checklist or Website for more information.
