  6. The Federal Government has released its national response to the independent review of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity. The response represents a commitment by all governments to build a stronger national biosecurity system. Details HERE.
  7. New grants of up to $1 million are on offer for bright sparks with innovative ideas to improve and protect Queensland’s soil, vegetation or waterways and the Great Barrier Reef. Applications and close 12 February 2019, submit your ideas HERE.
  8. The Queensland Government will invest $2.2 million in Rural Support Training Programs for farmers and communities affected by drought. The Programs will assist farmers and communities with skills and training to increase business opportunities. More HERE.
  9. Join the Queensland Agriculture Workforce Network in Gatton on Thursday for a free, one-day Workplace Essentials workshop. The workshop will focus on workplace relations, understanding Labour Hire Licensing laws and improving workplace safety. Register HERE.
  10. When identifying fire ants, look for a 2-6mm, coppery brown ant with a darker abdomen and no obvious entry or exit holes in the nest. If you see any suspect ants or nests, please take a photograph and submit via Biosecurity Queensland’s online report form HERE or call 13 25 23.
