For well over a century Telstra has been servicing and investing in the communication needs of rural, regional and remote Queenslanders. As technology evolves, the need to ensure these communities are included in a digital future has never been greater. That’s why Telstra continues to invest around 15 per cent of their mobile expenditure into the most remote regions of the country.
The business environment in which Queensland farmers operate has undergone substantial change over the last 25 years. Where technology is concerned, ‘big data’ has been with us for a while now and ‘precision to decision’ agriculture is seen by some as the next green revolution. Telecommunications will play a huge role in determining just how much digital technology will transform agriculture.
For more than 10 months, QFF and Telstra have been working together to better understand the technology needs of farmers. If Queensland agriculture is to realise its potential, it will need the support of a modern and reliable telecommunications network which is why QFF have partnered with Telstra.
400th Mobile Black Spot Switched On
Telstra marked a significant milestone in their involvement in the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program in the last week when they switched on the 400th base station in Upper Chittering, Western Australia. Last month Telstra switched on seven new towers in: Burke and Wills Roadhouse, Bundoran Road, Haden-Maclagan Road, Jobson Road, Gargett, Yerra and Darnley Island in Queensland. Construction continues to ramp up across the country as they bring new and improved mobile coverage to some of Australia’s more remote and iconic locations. Telstra’s funding commitment is supported with contributions from federal, state and local governments.
