Nic and Felicity Clapham, cotton growers from NFC Ag on the Darling Downs, knew water efficiency was their greatest business risk. Through the Farm Business Resilience Program (FBRP), delivered by BDO for QFF and Cotton Australia, they developed a tailored Farm Business Resilience Plan to address the challenge.
With support from QRIDA’s Drought Preparedness Grant, the Claphams invested in a lateral irrigator to reduce energy use, make better use of rainfall, and improve the farm’s drought resilience.
The workshops also provided valuable peer-to-peer learning, giving the Claphams the chance to exchange ideas with other farmers and translate them into practical next steps for their own business.
In the video below, Nic and Felicity share their journey and explain how the program gave them a clearer view of their risks and practical strategies to improve their operation.
